If you missed day one, you can read that here! Now that we’re all up to date, let’s jump into it!

“Do not fear.”

Anyone, or everyone, and if not, than me.

This quote was my backbone for the majority of last year. New people, places, projects. New everything. As someone who had struggled a lot with anxiety, it wasn’t exactly the greatest thing to have happened, at least not at that moment. I’d have frequent panic attacks, and my confidence was in the gutter. Every day was a struggle to not break down, every day was a struggle to stay calm and collected.

You can probably guess why I’ve included this now. Every day I’d write this on my hand in Elvish (Sindarin, for anyone who cares) and it had the power to literally save my brain from exploding. When there were too many bodies in the same room, I had a presentation, too many unknown personalities, I would look at the familiar markings and they would remind me to breathe. It literally saved me so many times.

“Practise makes progress.”

Every teacher/mentor I’ve ever known.

Although this quote may be simple to understand, it’s power still rests the same. It’s something that I hold dear to me all the time, and that’s not only because it was whispered to me through my elders when I was littler. With so many people with so much talent in our world, it’s oftentimes really hard for me to see whether it’s possible for anything to actually come of my writing, photography, piano playing… Anything. There always seems to be someone who’s better. Either way, this quote has sort of taught me that, even if there are people who are better than you, giving up isn’t going to do you any good. The only way you’re going to improve is through practice, and lots of it, if you ever want to catch up to anyone who’s good at whatever it is.

“Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn’t work hard.”

Tim Notke

This one kind of goes hand in hand with the one above. It again just talks about how talent doesn’t mean everything, and that it’s still possible to succeed when there are people with more talent but aren’t willing to work as hard for it as you do. It helps me to keep going with a lot of my hobbies, instead of just giving up on them and moving on.

That’s it for today! Whiew, this is harder than it seems. I really need to live my life by more quotes. Anyways, today’s nominee is  a good friend of mine…

Thanks for reading, and onto day 3!
