DSC_0833Alright, well, here we are aren’t we?! I’m exited! Are you exited? You should be. Because guess what? You’ve reached my blog! Now, I’m going to have to tell you very quickly, before we get to know each other… I have no idea what I’m doing! I just thought I’d get that out there before I actually started; it’s going to take me quite a while to get used to this whole concept. What is a blog? I don’t even know!

Some of you may be thinking, well, if you don’t even have an idea as to what a blog is, why on earth are you here? The answer is this; I don’t know anything. Literally, at my age everyone seems to have some sort of plan as to what they’re going to do with their lives, but I just don’t! So, when a last minute conversation in English class goes something like this:

“Hey Tath, the essay you let me read was really, really good. Your writing sounds so professional! I wish I could write like that…”

And I responded, like this, of course, because my writing was not nearly as great as my peer had claimed: “Um, are you sure? My writing sucks. Literally. I had to open up my vacuum yesterday because I had accidentally left the essay lying on the floor while I cleaned up. Yours is so good! Your opinions actually make sense. Mine just sounds like I mashed a bunch of complicated words together.”

“Ugh, no, it’s so good. You could totally get into journalism with writing like this! That’s what I’m hoping to do when I’m forced to become a part of this cold and cruel world. What about you?”

As the dreaded question came from her lips, I actually saw the words dangle in the air above her, as if we were suddenly in a comic book like Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Life. What was I doing with my life? I didn’t know! And not that it’s been much time since that English class, but I still don’t!

“I actually have no idea… Journalism sounds really cool though. I was thinking if, y’know, I ever got into journalism I could write for National Geographic ’cause then I could be a photographer too. That’d be neat.” Yes. Yes, I did even say neat. Just go with it.

“You should totally do that! Maybe we could even go to Uni together!”

“That’d be so cool! But, I heard from an older friend that to get into a lot of Universities you had to be really outstanding and exceptional. I’ve literally never done anything remotely interesting in my entire life. How am I supposed to get in, then?”

“Well what kind of things did they say you should do?”

“They said I had to start a YouTube channel, run a blog, start a charity… Something of that sort.”

“Oh, that’s easy! I run a blog right now; I have since I was, like, eleven. I can show you what website I write on!”

She then proceeded to tell me all about this WordPress.com where I could start a blog, and that it was really, very simple, that I could write about anything I wanted and that, under no circumstances whatsoever, was I to even attempt at finding her blog. Ever.

So, that’s where I am now! Or should I say here I am now? Either way, that’s my creation story. Or, my blog creation story. I will hopefully never, ever, hear about my own creation story. That would be quite horrifying, in my opinion…

Alright, well, to start this new writing adventure, I guess there’s really only one thing left to say…

“Go back?” he thought. “No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!”

Bilbo Baggins, The Hobbit.

It really means a lot, and thankfully I finally got to this today because I really needed it. And, to be honest, what would the world be like with out LOTR references, really? Glad I’m not the only one here who understands them aha 🙂
